3D Printing Prescribed for Local Event

By In Projects On August 25, 2016

For this project we were given the opportunity to do a print for the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).  They contacted us with the idea to print large pill capsules that would hold candy for an upcoming event.  This excited us and we were more than happy to be a part of the project.  We were able to make a simple design for the pill.  The pill could be easily printed and in a reasonable amount of time.  It was also met all the requirements suggested by UNMC.

The biggest challenge with this print was the time limit that was given.  We needed to be able to print 370 halves or 185 full capsules by an established date.  Each half needed to have a snug fit so the capsule would be able to stay together.  After a couple a test prints and tweaking of the design we were able to print a pill that would fit together.

In the end we were able to have all the halves printed for UNMC.  The end pill turned out great and functioned as expected.  We were glad to be a part of a fun and challenging project that ended with a successful print and a happy customer.
